Introduction - Light It Green Event 2026
On February 19, 2026, buildings across Canada will be lit green for World Cholangiocarcinoma Day. Cholangio-Hepatocellular Carcinoma Canada (CHCC) has partnered with the Canadian Cholangiocarcinoma Collaborative (C3) and the Manitoba Cholangiocarcinoma Community to promote this event and raise awareness about cholangiocarcinoma.

In addition, February is Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month. You can show your support by lighting your home or business green to spread hope for CCA patients and caregivers!


What is Cholangiocarcinoma?
  • It is a cancer of the bile ducts.
  • There are three different types of cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), based on location:
    1. Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) found in bile ducts within the liver.
    2. Extrahepatic or distal cholangiocarcinoma (dCCA) found in the part of the bile ducts outside the liver.
    3. Perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA) or Klatskin’s tumor where the right and left bile ducts join.
